Type species The type species Paludina trochiformis Meek & Hayden, 1857 is a junior homonym of Paludina trochiformis von Zieten, 1832. Wenz (1930), who was unaware of the genus Paludotrochus, introduced V. meeki as replacement name. However, after Hartman (2015), Cossmann (1921) actually based the new genus not on Paludina trochiformis sensu Meek & Hayden, 1857 but on specimens now attributed to V. codomorphus. [details]
