Authority Falsan & Locard (1879) attributed the name to Tournouër, but it is unclear whether the description really derived from that author (see ICZN Art. 50.1.1). [details]
Homonymy Locard (1883: 28, pl. 1, figs 1-3) first illustrated the taxon, yet under the name “Helix falsani Locard”. He incorrectly considered the name Helix locardi as a junior homonym of Helix locardiana Fagot in Locard 1879 (:38, pl. 1 fig. 14-17) and introduced H. falsani as replacement name. Although based on the same personal name, the two species names are, however, not homonymous after Art. 58 of the Code (but see also Recommendation 58A). Helix falsani therefore is a junior objective synonym of Helix locardi Falsan & Locard 1879. Note that the name already appeared as “Zonites falsani, Loc.” in Fontannes (1882: 260), yet without any discussion, rendering it a nomen nudum at that time. [details]
