Original description Mentioned as nomen nudum in Rossmässler (1835, vol. 2: p. 15) and Villa & Villa (1841: p. 33), who referred the name to Ziegler. Rossmässler considered the taxon an "insignificant variation [of P. corneus]". Mousson (1859: 52-53) was the first to validly the describe the species. Bourguignat (1860: p. 514-515) re-described it, but referred to Mousson (1859). [details]
