Biology Type of larval development: direct (non planktotrophic) denoted by paucispiral protoconch. [details]

Diagnosis Shell 1.4 to 1.8 mm high, with protoconch of 1.25 whorl and teleoconch of 2.25 to 2.75 whorls. Protoconch covered by minute granules arranged in blurry spiral bands. Teleoconch with a sculpture of softly rounded axial ribs (Canary Is. specimens) or merely poorly defined fine axial wrinkles parallel to growth lines (Ampère seamount specimens), extremely minute spiral lines of pores and very faint spiral cords restricted to the abapical area. Spiral rows of pores visible only at high magnificationunder SEM observation. Outer lip with a thin edge, slightly thickened externally at a distance of the edge, smooth and not thickened inside. Shell colour entirely white, translucent.
It is not proved that the specimens from Ampère seamount figured in Bouchet & Warén (1993) and in Gofas (2007) are conspecific with the types from Canary Islands but, in view of the scanty material at hand, the differences are not given taxonomic recognition.
This species resembles, due to its very faint sculpture, Pseudosetia amydralox Bouchet & Warén , 1993. However the microsculpture of the protoconch with spiral threads is definitely different in Pseudosetia; furthermore the latter does not have a pitted microsculpture on the teleoconch.  [details]
