Mollendoff (1898: 98, 99) lists subspecies diffusa Mlldff. from central Luzon, subspecies subunicolor Mlldff. from central Luzon, subspecies pusilla Mlldff. from central Luzon, subspecies pseudamoena Mlldff. from northern Luzon (La Union), and subspecies virescens Mlldff. from northern Luzon (Tiagan) with no descriptions or further comments. There are considered nomen nudum here. Mollendorff considers Helix huegeli of L. Pfeiffer Monographia Heliceorum Viventium (1848: 300, ex parte) and Helix hanleyi var. of Hidalgo Obras Malacologicas Atlas, pl. 25, fig. 10 (non Pfeiffer) as synonyms without comment.

Additional information Very confusing taxonomy. Some authors have treated this has a synonym of Chloraea hanleyi, C. hugeli; others treat it as distinct. Pilsbry (1892:96) states that Lea's name is not preoccupied in Cochlostyla and should be adopted, although he listed it under C. hanleyi var. hugeli. [details]
