From other sources
Authority Linnaeus, 1758 has descibed Cardium corallinumas well as Cardium stultorum , the first hails from the mediterranean, the second from West-Europe.
According to Lucas (1974a), Poutiers (1978), McKay & Smith (1979) and Van Aartsen et al. (1984) these two species are synonyms. When two synonyms are published simultanious than is " the relative priority determined by the action of the first reviser " according to ICZN. But in this case it is not easy to determine who is the first reviser. This and the discussion of Dodge (1952)
in mind the speciesnameMactra corallina should be beter. This name has also priority becaouse he is first mentionned in Linnaeus' Systema Naturae. [details]
