Taxonomy Bouchet & Warén (1980) argued that this name should be given precedence over Pleurotoma reticulata Brown, 1827, being better known. This was followed by Bogdanov (1990) and Turgeon et al. (1998). However, P. trevelliana doesn't qualify for reversal of precedence (ICZN Article 23.9) as P. reticulata has been used by numerous authors since 1899. Baxter (1987) considered the two to be distinct species. [details]From other sources
