Nomenclature Some authors (e.g. van Aartsen, 1981; Peñas, Templado & Martínez, 1996) distinguish under the name Turbonilla pseudogradata a morphotype which could be specifically distinct from T. gradata, following in this Nordsieck's (1972) description and concept that Turbonilla gradata sensu Monterosato was different from that of Bucquoy, Dautzenberg & Dollfus (1883). Nevertheless the name was formally introduced as a replacement name for T. gradata Monterosato, 1884 which is (if considered separately available) an objective synonym, based on the same figure in Bucquoy, Dautzenberg & Dollfus, 1883 pl. 21 fig. 12.
