Biology Type of larval development: direct (non planktotrophic) denoted by paucispiral protoconch.  [details]

Diagnosis Shell 1.0 to 1.4 mm high, with protoconch of 1.25 whorl and teleoconch of 2.75 whorls. Protoconch smooth or nearly so, teleoconch apparently smooth but microscopically with spiral rows of very minute (ca. 0.5 µm) pores, visible only at high magnification under the scanning electron microscope. Abapical area with three to four very flattened, very faintly marked spiral cords. Outer lip not distinctly thickened, smooth inside. Shell white, translucent.
This small, rare and macroscopically featureless species resembles "Onoba" lincta (Watson, 1873) from the sublittoral zone of Madeira but the latter has more pronounced, more crowded and continued spiral striae and its body whorl is proportionally higher. Another species in this group, "Onoba" tarifaensis Hoenselaar and Moolenbeek, 1987, endemic to the Straits of Gibraltar, has a microsculpture of pits but these are not neatly aligned spirally.  [details]

Distribution Gorringe, Josephine and Ampère seamounts, rare in 210-335 m [details]

Type locality Josephine seamount (36º46'N, 14º17'W, 315-335 m). [details]
