Taxonomy Philippi's original description mentions e.g. a constricted mouth; he suspects that his taxon might be a juvenile D. strangulatum or D. subulatum, taxa generally regarded to be synonymous with the serpulid Ditrupa arietina. Though the taxon has been referred to Dischides politus, it more likely is a Ditrupa (see Pilsbry & Sharp). D.pusillum most probably is a juvenile D. arietina (Editor's note). [details]
