Nomenclature The gender of this genus name is unclear. Being originally introduced as a subgenus, the original description does not provide a determination of the gender of this name. According to Art. 30 of the Code the gender should probably be masculine; see Art. 30.1.4.4 and 30.2.4). However, throughout subsequent taxonomic literature, Thersites has been treated as a feminine name. We opt here to continue representing this treatment. [details]
