Status P. multiformis minutus Hilgendorf, 1867 is invalid for it is a junior homonym of P. minutus Serres, 1829. No replacement has been introduced. Wenz (1923) proposed P. multiformis minutus Hilgendorf, 1867 to be a junior synonym of P. subhemistoma d'Orbigny, 1852, which he ranked as subspecies of G. trochiformis. However, that synonymization was not adopted by later authors, who considered G. minutus a distinct species (e.g., Rasser 2013). In order to bring stability to this issue, it is proposed here to accept the synonymization by Wenz but treat the taxon as distinct species. [details]
