Nomenclature In the original description, Tournouër (1866) used the two names nodoti and nodotiana. In 1869, he only used the name...  
Nomenclature In the original description, Tournouër (1866) used the two names nodoti and nodotiana. In 1869, he only used the name nodotiana when designating it as type species for the new genus Pyrgidium. Schlickum & Puisségur (1977) considered therefore nodotiana as the valid name, but this act does not constitute a valid selection of the correct original spelling according to Art. 24.2.3 (since Tournouër 1869 did not list both spellings). The first to list both spellings and select one (nodoti) as valid was Wenz (1926). [details]
