Nomenclature The species is a junior homonym of M. boettgeri Klika, 1891. Cossmann (1909) introduced Canthidomus balatonensis as replacement name. Jekelius (1944) considered it as a junior synonym of M. sturi [sic] Fuchs, 1870, which is at present ranked as subspecies of M. bouei Férussac, 1823. Note that Wenz (1929) erroneously considered M. boettgeri Halaváts, 1903 the same as M. boettgeri Brusina, 1902 [= M. delicata Pallary, 1920] [details]
