Type locality The type material was collected by J. Coates in 1909 and described by Cox (1926) who gives ’Kazinga’ as the type locality and states in his introduction: ‘the probable locality of the Kazinga specimens is the bank of the Kazinga Channel, on the S. side, near Kazinga itself’. But the original reference on the label of Coates’ specimens is ’north-east of Lake Edward’. Since P. bifidicincta was never found in the Kazinga area during the detailed investigations by subsequent expeditions it is most likely that the real type locality is Bushabwanyama (Lake Edward, Uganda), ca 8 km south of Kazinga (Fig. 13), where P. bifidicincta is abundant.
