Taxonomy Starobogatov et al. [1989] used the name Physa aenigma Westerlund, 1876 for designation of a North Asian species of physid snails. Taylor [2003] had shown that the holotype of Ph. aenigma represents nothing but a sinistral shell of a certain species of land snail (most probably belonging to the genus Cochlicopa Férussac, 1821) and, thus, this taxonomic name is not available for any physid species [details]
