Status The spelling Rhachis was first used by L. Pfeiffer (1856, Malakozoologische Blätter, 2: 161), but there it qualifies as an incorrect subsequent spelling. The spelling Rhachis was adopted by Martens (1860, Die Heliceen, ed. 2: 230), but again not qualifying there as an emendation. Connolly appears to be the first author who intentionally used Rhachis as an emendation. [details]
