Nomenclature This species was described as A. mangutensis by Godwin-Austen in 1914, and that name was later used as a valid taxon name (Gude 1921; Ramakrishna et al. 2010). However, the name Alycaeus (Dioryx) granum var. major Godwin-Austen, 1893 for the same taxon was validly introduced, and is available. Thus, the species must be called Pincerna major (Godwin-Austen, 1893), and the name Alycaeus mangutensis Godwin-Austen, 1914 is a junior objective synonym. [details]
