Zilch (1953:19) lists this as a subspecies of Diplommatina (Diplommatina) cebuensis and treats it as a synonym of cebuensis. Zilch lists this as a junior homonym of Diplommatina gracilis Beddome, 1875. Moellendorff (1890: 285-286) treats D. cebuensis var. gracilis Moellendorff, 1887 and Diplommatina gracilis Moellendorff, 1888 as two separate taxa. D. (D.) cebuensis var. gracilis Moellendorff, 1887 is a synonym of D. (D.) cebuensis Moellendorff, 1887 and homonym of D. gracilis Beddome, 1875; Diplommatina gracilis Moellendorff, 1888 is a junior homonym of D. gracilis Beddome, 1875, replaced by Diplommatina elegans Moellendorff, 1890.
