Status Despite the huge age difference, the taxon was treated as a variety of the extant Amalia marginata (Müller, 1774) [= Lehmannia marginata] by Sacco (1889). However, according to Wenz (1923), it was collected on the surface of marine strata and might actually be subfossil. Hence, the validity of the taxon (as well as its classification) is questionable.
