Status Alberti (1834:247) refers to Turritella obsoleta "Goldfuss" as published by Dechen (1832:534) which is a nomen nudum, and "corrects" the specific epithet based on comments he received from Goldfuss. As he does not provide any description nor illustration either, the name as published by Alberti is also to be considered a nomen nudum. The species was finally described properly and illustrated by Goldfuss (1844:103) as Turritella absoluta Goldfuss, 1844. [details]
