Taxonomy Dall (1904:123), at the end of the description of the new species Periploma sulcata writes: "The differences of sculpture and in the form of the lithodesma suggest that, as in the case above cited, P. sulcata is entitled to a sectional name for which Halistrepta is proposed.
As the decsription of the species is clearly done in the genus Periploma, the new "section" name is here considered to be a subgenus in modern equivalent. [details]
