New combination Introduced as replacement name for Bulimus globulus Grateloup, 1828, non Paludina globulus Deshayes, 1825, by d'Orbigny (1852) obviously both considered to belong in Paludestrina. d'Orbigny actually referred to "Grateloup 1845", but Grateloup had already introduced the species in 1828. Wenz (1926) apparently mixed up the synonymies and referred the same basionym (Bulimus globulus Grateloup) to two different taxa, Amnicola globulus Grateloup and Amnicola subglobulus d'Orbigny. The former, however, is not a separately available name, Grateloup (1840, pl. 1, figs 43,44) had only referred to Deshayes' name. d'Orbigny (1852) considered that one a misidentification and introduced Paludina gratteloupi as new name (which is listed in synonymy by Wenz). The status of that taxon is uncertain and requires revision! Finally, Bulimus globulus Grateloup, 1828 is the type species of Antinodulus Cossmann, 1919 (presently treated as synonym of Nozeba). Following ICZN Art. 59.3, however, d'Orbigny's replacement name is to be used - Nozeba subglobulus. [details]
