Status Smith (1991) listed the species Pecten heermanni Conrad, 1855 (as "Pallium heermanni") in synonymy of Lyropecten estrellanus (Conrad, 1856), incorrectly considering it a nomen nudum ("insufficient diagnosis, no illustration"). However, Conrad (1855) did provide a short description and made the name available, which makes heermanni the older available name and estrellanus its junior synonym. [details]
