Status Eichwald (1861), Amalitzy (1892) and Silantiev (2014) referred the name to Fischer von Waldheim (1840), but there the name appeared as nomen nudum. Also, Fischer von Waldheim had not indicated the taxon as new name. Apparently, the first valid description derives from Eichwald (1861). At that time, however, the name was a junior homonym of Unio littoralis var. umbonatus Rossmässler, 1844. [details]
