Status Several authors (Schmidt 1908, Štamberg & Zajíc 2008) refer the authorship of this species to Geinitz. This is likely based on the record by Beyschlag & Fritsch (1900, p. 42), citing their record as "Anthracosia Thuringensis Gein. (non Ludw.)". However, this name is not separately available - Geinitz (1864, p. 653) clearly referred to "Unio Thuringensis Ludw.". Apparently, all these records are misapplications of Ludwig's species. This extends also to the record of Staesche (1963), who correctly referred the authorship to Ludwig, but only summarized records based on the works of Beyschlag & Fritsch and Schmidt. The status of Ludwig's taxon remains uncertain. Revision required! [details]
