Homonymy The name is a junior homonym of Pecten (Leptochondria) tirolicus Bittner, 1895. Wilckens (1909) introduced Pecten (Aequipecten) H. Philippi [sic] as replacement name. Allasinaz (1972) considered that, since both taxa are now in different genera, Wittenburg's original name can be restored. However, the ICZN clearly regards primary homonyms as permanently invalid - the correct name is Pecten hphilippi. [details]
