Status Misspelling of Cerithium barrandianum Piette, 1855 and not a homonym of Cerithium barrandei d'Archiac, 1854 as considered by Bayle (1880), who actually was aware of the different spellings and still introduced Cerithium comptoni as a replacement name (an objective synonym). Fischer (1969) followed this, considering Piette's original name as "insufficiently characterized", but the name was still validly introduced. [details]
