Status Ćirić (1952) established two new cassiopid taxa, Glauconia coquandi var. velesana and Glauconia quadricostata. Mennessier...
Status Ćirić (1952) established two new cassiopid taxa, Glauconia coquandi var. velesana and Glauconia quadricostata. Mennessier (1984) considered velesana as a distinct species and ranked quadricostata as its subspecies, but for simultaneously published taxa, the species name has priority (ICZN Art. 24.1.). Since Hexaglauconia is considered a synonym of Cassiope at present (Kollmann 2005), the name of the taxon should be Cassiope quadricostata velesana. [details]
