Type material 1 shell, holotype, NHMUK 1914.1.7.296. It is the exact same species as Reeve described as Mesalia melanioides, type material of which is right next to the type material of the present species in the type collection at NHMUK. Therefore, it is here also placed in synonymy of Diastoma melanoides (Reeve, 1849). [details]
