Nomenclature This species is a replacement name for the junior homonym M. boettgeri Halaváts, 1903, non Klika, 1891. Jekelius (1944) - without referring to M. balatonensis - considered that name as a junior synonym of M. sturi [sic] Fuchs, 1870, which is at present ranked as subspecies of M. bouei Férussac, 1823. Note that Wenz (1929) erroneously considered M. boettgeri Halaváts, 1903 the same as M. boettgeri Brusina, 1902 [= M. delicata Pallary, 1920]. [details]
