Homonymy [Columbella (Mitrella) prolixa Bellardi, 1890, a fossil from the Pliocene from northern Italy, is currently placed in Mitrella, making M. prolixa K. Monsecour & D. Monsecour, 2016 a secondary junior homonym. However, ongoing molecular data show that Mitrella is not monophyletic (deMaintenon & Strong, 2022). We therefore refrain from establishing a replacement name at this moment, as M. prolixa K. Monsecour & D.
