Description
A mystery mollusc (Bathydevius caudactylus) observed by MBARI’s remotely operated vehicle (ROV) Tiburon in the outer Monterey Canyon at a depth of approximately 1,550 meters. The mystery mollusc has a wide, paddle-like tail with several finger-like projections called dactyls. The function of the dactyls remains unclear, but they may aid in defense.
