Synonymy Oppenheim (1895) introduced this new species and listed Pupa antiqua Matheron, 1832 (non Zieten, 1832) and Pupa subantiqua d'Orbigny, 1850 (a replacement name for the former homonym) in synonymy. Despite his comment that d'Orbigny's name "is not usable because there are no direct relations to Cl. antiqua Schübler", this makes Oppenheim's species a junior objective synonym of Pupa subantiqua. Fabre-Taxy (1959) listed all records but also chose the wrong name. [details]
