Synonymy Svitoch (1967) and Yanina (2005) considered D. subrudis Pravoslavlev, 1939 as a subjective synonym of Didacna grimmi Pravoslavlev, 1939 and classified it as a subspecies of Didacna catillus. Nevesskaja (2007) also considered both of Pravoslavlev' species synonymous but choose the subrudis as accepted. However, Svitoch acted as first reviser, making grimmi the valid name; the status as distinct species follows Nevesskaja (2007).
