Nomenclature Replacement name for Cardium sulcatinum Deshayes, 1838, non Lamarck, 1819, for which Deshayes (1857) had introduced already the new name
Cardium ponticum. Unaware of either of the two replacement names, Nevesskaja et al. (1997: 49) considered Cardium ovatum Deshayes, 1838 as a synonym of Cardium sulcatinum Deshayes, 1838; she classified the species in Pontalmyra. Pontalmyra ovata (Deshayes, 1838) takes precedence. [details]
