Stratigraphy Bogachev (1936, "Novyye dannyye po miotsenu Zakavkaz'ya") stated that the layers containing the species were overlain by strata with Mactra bulgarica, a species typical of the late Miocene. Bogachev (1936, "Presnovodnyye i nazemnyye mollyuski ...") assigned the layers to the upper Sarmatian. [details]
