Nomenclature Tenison-Woods (1876 - volume for 1875) first mentions the name Turritella tasmanica in the paper on tertiary fossils from Table Cape - however without suitable description - mentioning descriptions are to follow. In 1877 (Volume for 1876), in his paper on some new Tasmanian marine shells, he gives a proper description yet as a recent marine species.
Lastly, in his 1877 "Census" (volume for 1877), he attempted to "correct" his pre-occupation error (fide Tate & May, 1900:95) by listing Reeve's species under the name Turritella tasmanica Reeve, 1849, and most probably "re-named" his own as Turritella tasmaniensis yet without actual indication or note on that (probable) name change. It is that respect that the described name of Tenison-Woods remains as is and pre-occupied, a vision stated by Tate & May (1900:95) and substantiated by later authors. [details]
