Taxonomy La Perna (2008) showed that Yoldia striolata Brugnone, 1876, described as a Plio-Pleistocene fossil of Southern Italy, is an earlier name for Yoldiella seguenzae Bonfitto & Sabelli (1995). An alternative interpretation was proposed by Warén (1989) as a species of Neilonella for which the name Neilonella latior (Jeffreys, 1876) should be used if La Perna's interpretation of Yoldiella striolata is followed. An alternative interpretation was proposed by Warén (1989) as a species of Neilonella for which the name Neilonella latior (Jeffreys, 1876) should be used if La Perna's interpretation of Yoldiella striolata is followed.
