Additional information Again declared new by Yu & Zhang (1984, Palaeontological atlas of North China, 2: 57). [details]
Status Komatsu et al. (2003) and Fang et al. (2009) synonymized the type species (Sphaerioides luanpingensis J.-S. Yu & K. Zhang, 1982) with Sphaerioides yixianensis (Z.-W. Gu, 1976). Jiang et al. (2007) transferred Sphaerioides yixianensis to Musculiopsis and synonymized both genera. However, Fang et al. (2009) still listed Sphaerioides as valid genus. Status uncertain! [details]
