Status d'Orbigny (1850) introduced Cyclas suborbicularis as replacement name for Cyrena orbicularis Melleville, 1843, non Cyclas orbicularis Roemer, 1836, both of which he considered to belong in Cyclas [= Sphaerium]. However, the name itself is a secondary homonym of Cyrena suborbicularis Philippi, 1848. Bayan (1873) introduced the nom. nov. Cyrena lemoinei. Glibert & Van de Poel (1966) stated incorrectly that this correction was superfluous. They listed in the synonymy of Corbicula (s. s.) suborbicularis the species Cyrena unioniformis Deshayes, 1857, which is the oldest valid name and takes precedence. The combination with Corbicula [= senior synonym of Cyrena] follows Pacaud (2007; for Corbicula suborbicularis). [details]
