Nomenclature Georissa japonica (E. von Martens, 1886) is an older name, but it has not been used since its description. Prieto (2022) introduced Georissa pilsbryana Prieto, 2022 as a replacement name for Georissa japonica Pilsbry, 1900. However, since Georissa danjyoensis K. Uozumi & A. Yamamoto, 1981 is a junior synonym for Georissa japonica Pilsbry, 1900, that name must be used, and the introduction of Prieto's replacement name was unnecessary. [details]
