Nomenclature Isoculia may originally have been a lapsus for Isocardia: in the copy of Griffith we have examined, the word Isoculia (in the legend to pl. 8) has been erased and overwritten by Cardiomorpha, and in the text (p. 56) Cardiomorpha corrugata appears between C. axiniformis and C. oblonga, both of which refer to Isocardia, respectively axiniformis and oblonga, in their synonymy. However, Isoculia M'Coy, 1844, has subsequently been treated as an available name.  [details]
