type locality contained in Germany [details]
Type locality Schlotheim (1820) listed several localities from the areas of Mainz and Frankfurt, as well as Bouxwiller ("Buschweiler") in Alsace/France. The latter record clearly belongs to a different species. The origin of the lectotype designated by Kadolsky (1989) is uncertain; it probably derives from the Wiesbaden Fm. (Aquitanian) of Wiesbaden.
