Hidalgo (1896: 275) treats this a synonym of Cochlostyla ovoidea (Bruguiere, 1789) which is based on a misidentification. The accepted taxon should be Canistrum luzonicum (G. B. Sowerby I, 1833). He also ncorrectly states that the taxon was first described in Helix. It was described in Bulimus.
