Synonymy The synonymy of Nipponihyria and Sinohyriopsis follows Do et al. (2018, p. 9) who stated: "Starobogatov (1970) described Sinohyriopsis with the type species Unio cumingii Lea, 1852 and simultaneously described Nipponihyria Starobogatov, 1970 type species Hyriopsis schlegeli Martens, 1861. Dang et al. (1980) used the combination Sinohyriopsis cumingii. No use of the name Nipponihyria has been found in the literature since it was described. Sinohyriopsis is here given priority over Nipponihyria based on usage since both names were published in the same original work." [details]
